PJ arrests two men suspected of stabbing a merchant in Faro

A Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested two men, aged 18 and 23, on Wednesday, suspected of stabbing and seriously injuring the owner of a commercial establishment in the municipality of Faro, it was announced this Thursday.

According to a statement from the PJ, the men, indicted for the crime of qualified homicide in the formhave already been heard in the first judicial interrogation, preventive detention, the most serious measure of coercion, was applied to them.

According to the police, The origin of the aggression was the merchant’s refusal, aged 44, in serving one of the attackersafter the commercial establishment’s closing time.

“The victim was seriously attacked, using a sharp weapon, and was, at the time, assisted by emergency services and subsequently taken to the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve”, explained the police force.

One of the suspects was located by the GNR 24 hours after the attack, and was later detained by the Southern directorate of the PJ, after the “collection of evidentiary elements”.

Following investigative measures, the PJ arrested the other alleged participant in the attacks, “verifying the existence of family ties between them”concludes the PJ.
