This Wednesday, Sporting signed a cooperation protocol with the Den of Lions Soccer Club, a club from Newark, in the United States of America.

At a time when the North American club, inspired by the Portuguese lions, celebrates 50 years of history, both clubs have formalized a connection that aims to share «knowledge and experiences in order to capture new talents and develop existing ones even better, as well as further fuel the Leonine presence on the American continent”, as can be read on Sporting’s official website.

Paulo Gomes, general director of the Cristiano Ronaldo Academy, was at the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the US Lions, in Alcochete, and spoke about the objectives of the protocol.

«It is a house with a very strong connection to Sporting CP. The protocol is just a formalization of ideas that were already in practice and that will now become more objective. We want to strengthen ties with all Sportinguistas in that area and with the rest spread across the American continent. For us, it is the connection to a house that presents Sporting CP to the world, which is very important », he said.

«The protocol serves to give coaches, who work with young Americans and who represent Sporting CP on the American continent, the possibility of getting to know Sporting CP here in Portugal and the way we work with our teams. AND win-winbecause we will also understand how they work», he concluded.

Finally, the president of the US club, Paulo Baptista, also spoke about the new project and was happy with the progress: «We all know that Sporting CP is a very big club and we have many Sporting fans in Newark. The project will grow because the kids really like it and because we are taking Portugal’s tradition there».
