Chamusca: Vale de Cavalos Ribatejana Soup Festival was a success: Gazeta Rural

The 2nd Edition of the Vale de Cavalos Ribatejana Soup Festival was a success.

The gastronomic exhibition received more than 4,800 visitors, who came from various regions of the country to taste more than 13 varieties of typical Ribatejo soups, including: lamb soup with green beans, watercress soup, rice soup with tripe, soup country soup, chicken soup, country soup (rubble), mushroom soup, village soup, cabbage with beans, green broth, fish soup and stone soup, grain soup with pasta, prepared by associations, communities, parishes and parish unions of the Municipality, with endogenous products from the Chamusquense region. more than a dozen soups.

Over the three days of the event, more than 1,500 liters of soup were served, around 300 more than last year.

Like last year, on the last day of the festival, the Confraria de Gastronomia do Ribatejo tasted and evaluated the soups present at the gastronomic event. The mushroom soup, served by União de Freguesias da Parreira won 1st place, the lamb soup with green beans, offered by the company Carpintaria Mário, won 2nd place for the second consecutive year and the soup d’Aldeia, from the Centro Cultural do Semideiro , 3rd place.

During the festival, visitors were also able to sample some traditional snacks, such as alguidar meat, gizzards, bifanas, fried mackerel, scrambled eggs with farinheira and pica-pau.

The Festival das Sopas Ribatejanas is a joint organization between the Municipality of Chamusca and the Parish Council of Vale de Cavalos, its objective is to promote and promote Ribatejana soups and has the collaboration of associations, communities and economic agents in the Municipality. The next edition of the Vale de Cavalos Ribatejana Soups Festival returns in 2025, from March 21st to 23rd.
