The University of Minho leads a European project to create personalized collections and digital spaces for interaction between readers, in addition to actions to train them and research in the area.

The project, called ‘Lirensemble’, brings together 10 universities and is co-financed with 250 thousand euros by the Erasmus+ program until 2026. The presentation of the project takes place this Thursday, at 9:30 am, in the B2 auditorium on the Gualtar campus, in Braga. The session can be followed online on the Zoom platform, using ID 91998693830.

“Reading is an active experience of literature: giving voice to the text, approaching the work and expressing reading tastes are ways of sharing the construction of ourselves and the world, sensitive knowledge and skills, values such as respect and freedom”, says the responsible researcher, Maria Jesus Cabral.

“In this project we will boost diversity, multilingualism, digital transformation and cultural interaction through reading, supporting non-formal learning in Europe”, highlights the professor at the School of Letters, Arts and Human Sciences (ELACH) at UMinho.

‘Lirensemble – Reading Communities, Shaping Identities’ aims to research, advanced training and develop reading and interpretation skills, considering factors influencing readers’ experiences.

It aims to create personalized collections and spaces for interaction between readers, such as the Lirensemble digital platform.

The project is coordinated with the LEA interinstitutional network! Lire en Europe Aujourd’hui, based at the Center for Humanistic Studies at UMinho (CEHUM), which since 2008 has been promoting studies, publications, postgraduate/advanced training and activities within the scope of literary reading.

This Thursday’s meeting includes representatives of the consortium, formed by the universities of Minho, Porto, Antwerp (Belgium), Cádiz, Valencia (both from Spain), Masarykova (Czech), Pazmany Peter (Hungary), Paris-Nanterre, Paris 3 (France) and Rome Sapienza (Italy).
