Captivated by traditional stucco modeling techniques, Iva Viana creates objects that arise both from the fascination with the heritage of Portuguese master plasterers and from the desire to reinterpret it.
Iva Viana was born in Viana do Castelo, in 1980. She graduated in Fine Arts, in the sculpture variant, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto.
Between 2003 and 2004 he also attended Akademia Sztuk Pieknych, in Krakow, Poland, where he studied ceramics, stone and multimedia technologies. In 2007, she began her journey as a sculpture technician in an international company, specializing in decorative plasters, and, in 2009, she interned with the sculptor Pierre Merlin, in Nîmes, France.
