In a Chamber meeting held today, the municipal executive of Esposende approved a set of financial support totaling 589,878.07 euros.
“More than half a million euros is, in fact, a very significant investment, which will enable the implementation of several interventions and projects, while also supporting important activities for the community”, says the president of the City Council. Benjamim Pereira reiterates that “the Municipality is committed to executing a vast set of projects that will take Esposende to a higher level, as is the case of Higher Education in Esposende and Parque da Cidade, work that will soon advance to the ground in its first phase”.
The largest portion will be channeled to the Curvos Parish Social Center to help pay for construction work on a Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI), a project financed under the PARES program. “Bearing in mind the financial difficulties of the institutions that promote and play, in the municipality, an extremely important role in responding to the areas of childhood, people with disabilities and the elderly population, the Municipality decided to make a financial effort and support, to the extent of its capabilities , a part of the private component of the eligible investment. Thus, it will grant the institution financial support of 250,000 euros, safeguarding, however, the Municipality’s interest if the work does not come to fruition, as the use of public funds is at stake. If this happens, the funds will revert to the City Council”, says the Municipality.
The Municipality decided to allocate the amount of 122,394.22 euros to Forjães Sport Club to “face the costs associated with the interventions planned at the Horácio de Queirós Stadium, namely the execution of a synthetic lawn in an existing sports venue, new fence walls, lighting and requalification of interior spaces, particularly changing rooms”. “Through this support, the City Council contributes to the improvement of facilities, allowing the club to free up space on the main field and create more conditions for sports practice for around 200 athletes, at various levels, also enabling the club to increase practice of football with the implementation of two projects, ‘Walking football’ and ‘Football for all’, this one involving children and young people with special needs and which is the result of an application to the Crescer 2024 Fund, from the Portuguese Football Federation”, he adds.
“As volunteer firefighters are the main and first rescue and relief agents of Civil Protection, the Municipality continues to meet the needs of the municipality’s corporations, in the best interests of the population. Thus, financial support of 50,000 euros was approved for the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of Esposende, to share the costs of purchasing personal protective equipment, a 30kva generator and the adaptation of a corporation vehicle into a VCOC – Vehicle of Command and Communications, to be used to support the Municipal Civil Protection Office, as a complement to the municipality’s existing communications structure. In turn, the Benemérita Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Fão was awarded 40,000 euros to support the acquisition of an urban fire-fighting vehicle, a sum corresponding to 50% of the cost of the vehicle”, reiterates the Municipality.
Provided for in the Parish Investment Plan, the requalification of the headquarters of the Antas Parish Council will be implemented through the municipal support granted to this municipality, in the amount of 75,890.70 euros. This intervention aims to “guarantee the conservation of the parish’s heritage, as well as dignify the service to the population, as the building shows signs of wear and tear, therefore requiring maintenance and improvement works”.
The global amount of 17,466.48 euros will be transferred to the Union of Parishes of Esposende, Marinhas and Gandra. Of this amount, 6,011.01 euros are intended to cover the costs of dismantling the existing lighting projectors in the “Campo de Futebol de Gandra” sports complex and assembling support and fixing structures for the new LED projectors. Additionally, the amount of 3,955.47 euros is added to cover the repair of a Ford Transit vehicle, as well as the purchase of a new brushcutter, and 7,500 euros to support the Carnival Parade/2024.
The Municipality also approved financial support of 4,126.67 euros for the Union of Parishes of Fonte Boa and Rio Tinto for the repair and maintenance of vehicles serving that municipality.
On a cultural level, the City Council maintains its support and partnership with the Orquestra da Costa Atlântica. “This group has been holding a regular series of concerts and educational activities in various parishes in the municipality, fulfilling a decentralizing function in access to classical music. In order to guarantee the collaboration of this important cultural project in the municipal territory in 2024, which has been experiencing increasing momentum, in addition to also deserving growing recognition from the community, the Municipality approved the granting of support of 20,000 euros ”, explains the City Council.
Still in terms of support, the Municipality will grant the amount of 10,000 euros for the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 813-Marinhas Scout Group.
