Analysis of the main players from each of the 24 teams present at the European Championship in Germany
Counting only the 10 most valuable footballers from each country, the National Team appears in 4th place in a ranking led by England – Portugal is still behind France and Spain. The quinas group, led by Roberto Martínez, reaches 645 M€, losing very little to the Spanish (650 M€), but being very far from the English (990 M€) and French (815 M€).
The clear superiority of the team led by Gareth Southgate is justified by the fact that it is the only one with five players valued at more than €100 million – from Jude Bellingham to Harry Kane, including Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice. This is when only Germany has two (Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz), while France (Mbappé) and Spain (Rodri) have one.
Rafael Leão is the Portuguese with the best price (90 M€), surpassing Bernardo Silva and Rúben Dias, both with 80 M€, and also Bruno Fernandes (70 M€). Captain Cristiano Ronaldo is valued at just €15 million.
Kvaratskhelia stands out
Among Portugal’s rival teams in the first phase of the European Championship, the most highly rated is Kökçü and company’s Turkey, with a total of €219 million, almost a third of the value of the Portuguese team. The Turks appear in 15th place in this particular ranking, with the Benfica midfielder being one of the most valuable: 30 M€, as much as Kenan Yildiz (Juventus’ 18-year-old striker) and just behind Çalhanoglu (40 M€).
Georgia, one of the last teams to qualify, appears in 19th place, with 143 M€, a number inflated by the presence of Kvaratskhelia, the Napoli star responsible for more than half (80 M€) of that amount. The Czech Republic comes in 21st place (127.5 M€), leaving only Slovenia, Albania and Romania behind. Tomas Soucek (West Ham midfielder) is the Czechs’ most valuable footballer (€35 million).
