Former general director of the SIS – Information and Security Service, judge Margarida Blasco, 67 years old, spent seven years heading the so-called police of polices, the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration. And from there she left against her will, after the president of the Supreme Court of Justice forced her to return to the judiciary, in 2019, when she still had two years left to finish her service commission.

His time at this body was marked by several cases related to police abuse, particularly by PSP agents who raised questions about excessive violence and racism in the actions of the security forces.

Before going to the SIS, as a judge, cases such as Camarate, in which Prime Minister Francisco Sá Carneiro, Dona Branca and the then director of the Judiciary Police Fernando Negrão, who was dismissed due to a leak of information about an investigation at the Modern University. A process that ended up being archived.

From IGAI, Margarida Blasco moved to the Supreme Court of Justice, from where she retired in August 2021. The new holder of the Justice portfolio was born on July 25, 1956 in Castelo Branco, having graduated in 1978 from the Faculty of Law from the University of Lisbon. She is one of the oldest ministers in this Government.

Between 1987 and 1991 he was chief of staff to the Deputy Secretary of State of the Minister of Justice, José Borges Soeiro, and the main holder of the portfolio, Laborinho Lúcio. The Government was led by Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
