The Teatro Circo Municipal Company will change its name to “Faz Cultura – Empresa Municipal de Cultura de Braga, EM”. The proposal will be analyzed at the next Municipal Executive Meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Considering that the company has been expanding, in more recent years and in conjunction with the Municipality of Braga, its scope of activity and mission, which now goes far beyond the management of the cultural equipment Theatro Circo (which was at the genesis of its creation), there was a need to change the name.

The company is currently responsible for managing the GNration cultural equipment, as well as coordinating projects of strategic interest to the city’s cultural policy, such as Braga Media Arts – UNESCO Creative City and Braga 25 – Portuguese Capital of Culture.

This change highlights, on the one hand, the aforementioned need for the name to reflect the company’s current activity; and, on the other hand, it is a way of overcoming some ´noise´ in institutional communication enhanced by the similarity of the name of the institution and the Theatro Circo cultural equipment.

Since the change in the name of the entity requires the updating of the company’s statutes, and given the mandatory nature of this change, we opted for a new wording of the statutes that is closer to the reality of other municipal companies, naturally considering the specificities of the mission of the future ´Faz Cultura´.
