Between March 30th and April 1st, FCC – Environment Portugal workers did not collect waste in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses.

Unions and workers demand a 15% increase in wages, with a minimum of 150 euros, an increase in meal allowances or a reduction in the working day to 35 hours. They still complain “very concrete responses to the conditions in which they work, such as the granting of health, hardship and risk allowances, the guarantee of health and safety conditions at work, compliance with mandatory annual medical examinations and the recognition of illnesses resulting from the activity carried out ”can be read in the statement.

In this sense, workers call for the opening of a negotiation process “seriously, put an end to discrimination between workers and regularize situations of precarious employment of workers who perform functions corresponding to permanent needs”they add.

The Regional Directorate of Porto do STAL expects, from the company and the Municipal Council of Marco de Canaveses, a “serious approach to solving problems, which respects workers and the important functions they perform in the municipality and puts an end to discrimination”ends.
