There are those who call it “tu” and know it from beak to tentacles, but there are also those who respect and know the importance that cuttlefish has for the Setúbal community and how it represents the region’s gastronomy. Its fame is such that many travel hundreds of kilometers just to taste this typical dish, which will be featured from April 5th to 14th.

Setubal’s choco gastronomic week is approaching, the objective of which is, in addition to presenting the dish in its most traditional form, to innovate and create new flavors and ways of cooking. Cuttlefish Week, organized by the Municipality of Setúbal and integrated into a gastronomic cycle under the “Setúbal, Terra de Peixe” brand, promoting regional products and which, at the same time, stimulates local restaurants, has three initiatives open to the public , as the municipality explains.

“Cuttlefish favada, at Casa do Peixe, cuttlefish risotto nero, at Bistro & Tapas, fried choquinhos do rio, at O ​​Douradinho, cuttlefish nigiri, at Omotenashi, cuttlefish pica-pau, at Pinga Amor 2, and curry of cuttlefish, at Tasca da Avenida, are some of the proposals on the restaurant menus in Setúbal”.

On the 6th, at 11 am, in Praça de Bocage, the “Choco BFF” initiative will take place, a surprise prepared by the Setúbal Hotel and Tourism School, while on the 13th, at 3:30 pm, the Library will host the pedagogical workshop “The cuttlefish and its life cycle”, with free registration, until the 11th, by filling out a form.

On the 14th, at 5 pm, at Quinta de Alcube, there will be a new session of the “Probable Encounters” cycle, with chef Luís Alves, accompanied by wine from that cellar. Registration is already sold out for this event.

Cuttlefish Week — after Bivalves Week — organized with the support of the Setúbal Hotel and Tourism School, Quinta de Alcube, the Setúbal Peninsula Wine Route, the Setúbal Peninsula and Gertal Regional Wine Commission, In this edition, 50 restaurants signed up.

The list includes A Casa do Peixe, Adega do Zé, Adega dos Garrafões, Alface Filha, Antóniu’s, Bistro & Tapas, Cais 56, Casa Lagarto, Casa Morena, Charroco, Churrasquinho das Praias do Sado, Copa D’Ouro, Decor & Salteado, Estrela do Sado, Florida, Leo do Choco Frito, Mar Azul 2, Martroia, Novo 10 and Novo Capote.

New Lídia, O Alface, O Batareo, O Bote, O Convés, O Dias Marisqueira, O Douradinho, O Jacques, O Migas, O Pescador II, O Praxedes, O Ramila, O Saveiro, O Sonho, O Tavira, Oficina do Peixe , Omotenashi, Parreirinha do Sado, Peixe no Largo, Petisqueira do Manel and Pinga Amor 2 also joined the initiative.

Cuttlefish Week also includes the involvement of Rebarca, Ó Manel Restaurant, Restinguinha, Rio Azul Marisqueira, Solar do Marquês, Tasca da Avenida, Tasca do Duca, Tasca do Toninho, Tasca do Xico da Cana, Tasca Kefish, Terraço do Mercado , Velho Lídia, Verde e Branco and Xtória.
