The Minho Business Association (AEMinho) argues that the country needs a “long-term strategy that guarantees security, predictability and stability” for investments.

As a message to the new Government, which takes office this Tuesday, Ricardo Costa asks for “focus, governmental assertiveness and a capacity for execution greater than what has been the norm”.

“Growth will have to be effectively articulated with an adequate fiscal policy, aiming to increase financial liquidity, stimulate investment and mitigate the pressure of state costs on the budget of Portuguese families. (…) Portugal needs a direction, a long-term strategy that guarantees the security, predictability and stability that the investment and growth factor requires”, complains the president of AEMinho in a statement.

“Within the legal framework, it is important to revisit labor legislation, giving it a progressive and evolutionary nature, aligned with humanistic values and new work dynamics, maintaining sensitivity to business realities and their challenges”, he highlights

For the boss of Minho bosses, “it is important that labor legislation is not a factor in human, social and business underdevelopment”.

“It is important to reverse the paradigm of permanent tension that results from the unequal way in which it treats both parties. Companies are people, they are their relationships and their interaction and legislation must organize this relationship, encouraging understanding, bridges and consensus”, he maintains.

Welcoming the choice of three ministers from Minho – Nuno Melo (Defence), José Manuel Fernandes (Agriculture) and Fernando Alexandre (Education) – I advise Luís Montenegro to focus on “efficient management of European funds, with practical application of so that they effectively reach the sectors of the economy for which they are intended and serve, in fact, to boost the economy and generate value”.
