April is “Child Abuse Prevention Month” in Azambuja

-

The Municipality of Azambuja, through the Commission for the Protection of Children and Young People, joins the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Young People, in promoting the “Month for the Prevention of Child Abuse”, which takes place during the month of April.

“The main objective of this initiative is to give visibility to the scourge of child abuse, as well as to alert and sensitize everyone to prevent and combat this reality”, says the Municipality, which announces that the campaign has as its motto “I will be what you give me… let it be LOVE”.

To mark this campaign, CPCJ Azambuja challenges families in the municipality to make a blue bow, and place it in the window, door or balcony of their home, and take a photo that should be sent to the email cpcj.azambuja@ cnpdpcj.pt or, through ‘messenger’, to the CPCJ Azambuja Facebook page, throughout the month of April. Subsequently, the commission will publish photographs of the ties on its social networks. The Municipality will also organize a “Human Blue Bow”, on April 30th, with a meeting point at Largo do Município, at 11 am.

Remember that the Blue Ribbon Campaign began in the United States of America, in 1989, when a grandmother tied a blue ribbon to her car’s antenna. The objective would be for people to question themselves about this symbol. Thus, she had the opportunity to explain that this bow symbolized the mistreatment of her grandchildren, which in the case of one of them resulted in death. And why blue? Because even though blue is a beautiful color, Bonnie Finney didn’t want to forget the bruised and bruised bodies of her two grandchildren. Blue would serve as a constant reminder of her fight to protect children from abuse.
