This April, Vila Nova de Cerveira City Council is hosting two seminars dedicated to “Training and Inclusion of Citizens with Development Problems”, as part of the celebrations of World Health Day, promoting an open and broad debate on the entire process. including an individual with developmental disabilities.

“Does my child/child have any developmental problems? What are the warning signs? Who can I turn to for clarification of doubts? These are some of the issues that concern many parents/caregivers and that, sometimes, either due to lack of knowledge, monitoring or fear of stigma, drag on over time, preventing a quicker diagnosis”, says the municipality.

The first seminar, scheduled for April 13th, brings together a wide range of speakers, with the aim of seeking to dismantle many existing stereotypes. Starting at 9:30 am, in the Cerveira Cultural Forum Auditorium, the lecture begins by addressing the legal framework of Inclusive Education (Decree-Law 54/2018), the process of assessment and diagnosis of children with difficulties, and therapeutic intervention.

The second seminar, on April 20th, focuses on the role of institutions in training and inclusion, addresses support materials and products, talks about the professional integration of people with special educational needs, in addition to publicizing the benefits and existing social supports.

The organization of these initiatives commemorating World Health Day is the responsibility of Vila Nova de Cerveira City Council in partnership with APPACDM of Viana do Castelo, with the involvement of several entities, namely, the Vila Nova de Cerveira Health Center, the municipality’s IPSS’S, the Vila Nova de Cerveira School Group, the Viana do Castelo ICT Resource Centers for Special Education (CRTIC) and the Parents’ Associations.

This training is accredited by the Vale do Minho Training Center, aimed at the general and school community, as well as health professionals, health and social action technicians from the 10 municipalities of Alto Minho, as well as professionals from IPSS’s (daycare centers ). Participation is free, but requires mandatory prior registration (https://valedominho.com/seminarioinclusao ).
