The Biscainhos Museum, in Braga, will temporarily close to the public between April 8th and May 31st, as part of the work to correct pathologies and promote accessibility as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
This intervention aims not only to preserve and enhance the historical-cultural heritage that the Biscainhos Museum represents, but also to guarantee a more accessible and inclusive space for all its visitors. During this closure period, maintenance work and improvements will be carried out on the museum’s infrastructure.
Despite the temporary closure, the Museum will continue to develop its cultural activities dynamically. Under the “Museu Fora Portas” project, the museum will be taken to schools, maintaining communication links with the school community. In addition, visits will be organized from the museum to other iconic Baroque spots in the city, taking André Soares’ artistic legacy as a reference.
According to Filipe Ferreira from the Biscainhos Museum, “during this period, we will also mark commemorative dates, such as the International Day of Monuments and Sites (DIMS2024), on the 18th of April, and the International Day of Museums (DIM2024) on the 18th of May, through alternative cultural initiatives and activities. The Biscainhos Museum thanks its audiences for their understanding during this period of temporary closure and reiterates its commitment to continue promoting culture and preserving our heritage,” he said.
