O glamping It has been a trend that has been growing for several years and is now being announced on Faro beach, on the so-called “Island of Faro”. This season, ten tents that follow this trend are now available, in a partnership between the municipal campsite and the company Domo Camp.
Born from the combination of glamor and camping, the glamping aims to provide conditions with a touch of sophistication without losing the essence and traditional art of camping. This is what the new area of the Faro park aims to achieve, with the new accommodation offer resulting from “the provision of space to the company Domo Camp, Lda, following a public auction”, according to a statement.
There are 1,100 square meters, dedicated to the “installation and operation of these ten tents glamping”. And what do they stand out for?
“They have single or double beds, wooden terraces with shade sails in front of the tent overlooking the Ria Formosa, lounge space with table and outdoor benches or sun loungers, lighting, bedside tables, electricity, fan and mini fridge or padlock with code”, he responds, exemplifying the various upgrades to traditional tents…

“In the middle of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, just a few meters from the beach”, the new Glamping Camp offers “two types of tents for up to four people”.
Reservations are open until November. On the Domo Camp website, prices for April start at 42/55 euros per night (tents for 2, 4 people), but prices increase depending on demand, and may reach double or more in August.

The renovated Faro Municipal Camping Park was opened in the summer of 2021, two years after the municipality took possession of the space again and after several disputes. There are more than 20 thousand m2 of area, with capacity for 689 people, mostly for camping and with lots also for caravanning, informs the chamber.
Faro beach is located on the Ancão Peninsula – “extension of sand that extends for several km, separating the lagoon system from the Atlantic Ocean. In the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, this area is characterized by a dune cord, formed by peninsulas and sandy islands that protect a vast area of salt marsh, channels and islets”, summarizes the municipality. Known as “Faro Island”, access is via a bridge, where “vehicle traffic or boat traffic can circulate. River routes begin in Faro at Cais da Porta Nova (Portas do Mar).”
