Located in Estremoz, Casa do Gadanha is an old manor house, which was transformed, in 2022, by a couple of chefs, Ruben Trindade Santos and Michele Marques. With 12 rooms available, divided into two categories (city and superior) and all different. Those responsible for Casa do Gadanha explain that it is “a country house in the center of the city” that has maintained the features of the original building: old doors, traditional tiles, iron handrails and marble sinks. At a distance of an hour and a half, by car, from Lisbon and thirty minutes from Évora, the Estremoz region can be explored through some of the activities that the House itself organizes:. guided visits by one of the chefs to the city’s century-old market, cooking workshops, wine tastings, bicycle tours, walks on the Serra d’Ossa Walkways, picnics and even water activities, such as stand-up paddleboarding, at the Alqueva Dam. And, of course, in a house led by two chefs, gastronomy takes center stage. The restaurant is led by chef Ruben Trindade Santos and offers a menu based on Alentejo products, where terroir, memories and seasonality are present. Nothing new, and thank goodness. Sharing dishes that can arrive at the table, choosing from the menu or in the Chef Experience, where Ruben Trindade Santos himself selects the dishes. And in addition to the restaurant, the House has a grocery store with regional products, and on the top floor a bar area to watch the Alentejo sunset.
