Bachata saw an increase in demand for Afro-Latin classes by more than 50% compared to 2023, making this a phenomenon in the capital. It was the only modality that showed growth compared to the same period last year, while Salsa and Kizomba maintained their participation in classes at Jazzy Dance Studios.

The first Latin dance group from Jazzy Dance Studios – Latin Attitude – will represent Portugal for the first time in an international competition. “La Negra”, in Spain, brings together more than 20 countries and the evaluation is made by artists with worldwide recognition.

“It will be a very big step for us, as I believe in the quality of our dancers in Portugal, and with dedication and desire we will make a difference in a competition that already has worldwide recognition and exposure!” says Filipa Antunes, founder of Latin Attitude and international choreographer.

This is a style driven by global artists such as Shakira, Rosalía or Manuel Turizo who bring the music not only to Spotify, but also to the radio, and which naturally leads people to look for classes in this style of dance in the various Jazzy Dance Studios schools for country.

“Since Covid, the number of participants in classrooms has been limited, even to provide a good experience, but the demand is so great that we respond in various forms of classes – in pairs or individually. (…) The truth is that Our class methodology has not only a practical component, but also a theoretical one in which our students have to understand the different phases of the music so that they can apply the steps and breathing. (…) The students’ evolution is very fast!”confirms Pedro Trindade, also a teacher and choreographer for Latin Attitude.

Latin Attitude are Jazzy Dance Studios’ first choreographic group with international projection. The group was founded in 2017 and, currently, 20% of its members dedicate themselves to dancing professionally. United by their passion for Bachata, they practice the modality between 6 and 8 hours a week.

Jazzy Dance Studios is the most popular dance school in Portugal, with more than 60 styles available to learn, more than 130 teachers and 4000 students, from beginners to advanced students.

For the first time, Latin Attitude will organize a dance matinee with Bachata and some Salsa, at Jazzy Dance Studios in Santos, on April 13th at 5pm. They invite all Lisbon residents who want to learn the style and support them on this international journey to come and take a dance step. Private classes will be drawn with the two Latin Attitude choreographers, there will be several pair or group shows and other surprises in store throughout the social. A party not to be missed!
