Montenegro erased Costa’s logo to recover shield and armillary sphere | New Government

One of the first three decisions of the Luís Montenegro Government was to reverse the logo created by António Costa’s executive, recovering the image with the coat of arms of the national flag, with the shield and armillary sphere, precisely the symbol used until the change decided by the previous Government. At the press conference held by minister António Leitão Amaro, the symbol that the new Government decided to recover was already visible.

Leitão Amaro, Minister of the Presidency, confirmed this Wednesday morning, in the briefing that followed the first meeting of the new Council of Ministers, that the recovery of the previous logo was one of the first three decisions taken at this meeting.

However, the change was decided and put into practice before this first meeting of the Council of Ministers, as in the email sent late this Tuesday afternoon, in which the Ministry of Leitão Amaro, shortly after taking office of the new executive, reported the time of this morning’s executive meeting, the old symbol was already used.

And also on social network X, the official Government account was updated on Tuesday, dropping the logo introduced by António Costa and which was criticized by some right-wing voices. Now Prime Minister Luís Montenegro promised during the election campaign to drop the controversial logo.

The symbol now used is precisely the one used before the previous executive adopted a new logo.
