The new cultural season at Theatro Circo, in Braga, announced today and which runs from May to August, gives special emphasis to younger audiences and “moments of audience mediation”.

According to the program, Theatro Circo will host, for example, concerts by Aldina Duarte (May 3rd), Capitão Fausto (May 4th) or the Brazilian Ivan Lins (June 8th) and Maria Quê (22nd June) from Braga. June), all with new repertoire; and also the Braga Sinfonietta (May 31).

Theatro Circo is also a stopping point, in May, for the play “Fado Alexandrino”, a production by the Teatro Nacional São João, staged by Nuno Cardoso based on a novel by António Lobo Antunes.

Still in May, the already announced INDEX Art and Technology Biennial will take place, with the presence, among others, of the Japanese artist Ryoji Ikeda, the Lebanese Lawrence Abu Hamdan and ODE – Orquestra Devices Eletrônicos, with visuals from the Berklee College of Music, which results from an order.

In July, for the first time, July is Jazz, with concerts by names such as the North American collective Irreversible Entanglements (July 5th) and Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas Trio (July 13th).

Theatro Circo also highlights a program designed for younger children, namely with the show “Nuvens” (May 4), by Joana Araújo, Maria Mónica and Ricardo Baptista, and with the project Mão Verde, by Capicua and Pedro Geraldes , on June 1st, Children’s Day.

In the “Crianças ao Poder” program, on June 29th there will be “Nesta Manta Cabe”, a concert session for babies and children up to 5 years old, paper puppet workshops, films by Abbas Kiarostami for the little ones, and the play “I didn’t know I could”, by the theater company Os Possessos.

From June 1st, Theatro Circo will host the Companhia de Espectadores, described as a “moment created for analysis and reflection on performing arts”, starting with the theater.

The first meeting of this project will be about the play “Fado Alexandrino”, on June 1st. The second will be on July 6th with the play Os Possessos.

In August, there will be a film cycle dedicated to Margarida Cordeiro and António Reis, programmed by Lucky Star – Cineclube de Braga.
