Port of Aveiro launches public tender for Digital Ordinance Implementation Contract

Today, the announcement of the launch of the Public Tender for
Contract for the Implementation of Digital Ordinances in the Port of Aveiro, with a base value of 4.5 million
of Euros.

The project consists of operationalizing land access control, through the reconfiguration and
valorization of existing buildings, the digitalization of validation processes in the Port of
Aveiro – North Terminal, Liquid Bulk Terminal and Solid Bulk Terminal – and the
implementation of technologies that allow the recognition, validation and registration of people,
vehicles and goods, at the entrance and exit of the aforementioned terminals.

Through the development of software, tailored to the needs of the Port of Aveiro, and with
technical interoperability with other systems, namely with the Single Port Card (CUP) and
With the Single Logistics Window (JUL), it will be possible to automate access control for validation
accreditation process, using hardware equipment, as well as the management and scheduling of
entrances and exits, in order to optimize road flows to and from the port.

It is also intended to extend the connection of the supply chain, the maritime component, through
of the Single Logistics Window (JUL), for the road component, in order to promote optimization of
resources and reduction of GHG emissions.

According to Eduardo Feio, President of the Board of Directors of the Port of Aveiro, “this project is
a central piece in the digital transition of the Port of Aveiro, in improving the energy efficiency of the entire
logistics chain, strengthening the port’s security conditions and improving the conditions of
work of the security teams serving this port administration”.

The implementation of this project will allow for the reduction of bureaucracy, simplification and automation of
access control processes and procedures in the aforementioned commercial terminals in the Port of Aveiro.
With this project, the Port of Aveiro hopes to contribute to an increase in the efficiency of the use of
port infrastructure and supply chains that use the port and, consequently,
to increase their environmental sustainability.
