Aware of the growing anxiety that students feel when applying for Higher Education, the University of Coimbra reinforces, in a new edition, its commitment to Open Week 2024, publicizing its training offer and opportunities for academic and personal development. The initiative will take place on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of May, at the Coimbra University Stadium.

“The Open Week is a unique opportunity to get to know the University of Coimbra in its various components, training, scientific and citizenship promotion. With the presence of the various UC Faculties and services, students and families will be able to clarify their doubts and prepare themselves for a choice, as conscious and informed as possible, about the future path they want. The UC has immense opportunities for participation and cultural, sporting and academic development. The Open Week allows us to show at least a small part of this multidimensionality and give access to numerous informative conferences, for example with the Directorate-General for Higher Education, and cultural initiatives. We look forward to everyone’s visit”, says the Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra for Teaching and Attractiveness, Cristina Albuquerque.

The Vice-Rector also emphasizes that it is important to contribute to the appropriate choice as early as possible, which is why visits are also encouraged from students attending the 3rd cycle of Basic Education who “have not yet had sufficient contact with reality to be able to choose the area in which they want to study in secondary education and that will condition their choices to higher education”.

As such, it is the first year that the Open Week of the University of Coimbra, in addition to being aimed at Secondary Education students (10th, 11th and 12th years) will also be aimed at 3rd year students. cycle (7th, 8th and 9th years).

During the three days of the event, it will be possible to have a permanent exhibition of the Faculties, Departments and some Services of the University, as well as to visit the various spaces dedicated to them to clarify doubts, conversations with students, professors and the rest of the community .

In addition, registration is also available for information sessions about each Faculty, access to Higher Education, Social Support and various initiatives to learn more about the Coimbra Academic Association and the cultural, civic and sporting activities it develops. Also included in the program are “Dreaming” sessions.

Schools, student groups – from 7th to 12th year – teachers, families, psychology and guidance services and other audiences can register for free to spend a morning or afternoon at the Open Week and obtain all the information about the courses taught at the eight UC Faculties and their connection with research and the job market – as well as attending the conversations and lectures that will take place in parallel , in the main event area or in the secondary area.

The event takes place from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, from Thursday (2) to Saturday (4), also featuring moments of entertainment. All information and registration is available at Escolhaauc.uc.pt/semana-aberta/.
