IT’S A RESTAURANT is one of the finalists for the AHRESP Awards – ®DR

Finalist in the Solidarity Establishment category of the AHRESP Awards, É UM RESTAURANTE, is an intelligent social integration project, with a team that provides work and training to people who live or have lived in chronic homelessness.

In the end, É UM RESTAURANTE is a casual fine dining restaurant, in the city center of Lisbon, with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and decor and where the menu has flavors of Portuguese gastronomy: comfort food and sharing. But also, and above all, it is a project with a strong social impact, where each year 75 people in vulnerable situations will be integrated, giving them the tools to be included in the job market.

Regarding the nomination of É UM RESTAURANTE, Américo Nave, Executive Director of CRESCER, highlights “Being finalists in the 8th Edition of the AHRESP Awards, even if we don’t win the prize, is for us another excellent recognition of the work we do in the inclusion of people who are in an extremely vulnerable situation, particularly those who are homeless. At the same time, it demonstrates that, in addition to our purpose, we offer an excellent quality service, both at a gastronomic and team level. We have the added value of having an excellent permanent team at É UM RESTAURANTE and of receiving groups of trainees who are motivated to learn and offer quality service, which helps us achieve our second major objective – having customers who return because they really They liked the restaurant, the food and the service.”

With gastronomic consultancy from chef Nuno Bergonse and resident chef Ricardo Guimarães, É UM RESTAURANTE is proud to gain recognition from those who visit. “We are proud to have people on our staff who have already undergone training and who, nowadays, are part of the permanent team that forms new classes. We have to thank all our staff. In addition to their excellent work, they have been an inspiration to everyone who passes by the restaurant. Our partners, public and private, have also been a fundamental pillar for the development and maintenance of this project, which is much more than a restaurant and which requires a technical team to monitor its implementation.” says Américo Nave.

The Executive Director of CRESCER also adds that “We hope that this appointment, which is an honor for us, will also be a vehicle to promote the dissemination of É UM RESTAURANTE, thus contributing to more people visiting us and, consequently, more people being able to enjoy this response that promotes real long-term change, through labor inclusion.”

Voting for the 5 finalists in each of the 10 categories will take place from April 25th to May 20th, via the AHRESP 2024 Awards website and the winners will be announced at the gala that will take place on June 21st at the Salão Preto e Prata do Casino Estoril, in the presence of around 600 guests.
