The Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-LVT) approved the application presented by the Alcanena City Council for the requalification of the Alcanena Secondary School, a project costing around 6.3 million euros.

The intervention to be carried out aims to requalify and modernize the existing school building, which houses the 3rd cycle of basic education and secondary education, providing it with classrooms, laboratories and activity rooms dedicated to STEAM (Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), as well as better energy efficiency.

All school buildings will be intervened, with the construction of a new building also planned for storage and the expansion of block F, where the library and auditorium are located, as well as exterior arrangements of the surrounding areas.

The project will take place with classes in operation, with all aspects of safety and operation of school activities being duly ensured.

The application obtained funding from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), in the amount of €6,333,065.06, which corresponds to 100% of eligible expenditure, excluding VAT.
