The stoppage also covers all extraordinary work during the month of May.

“Following plenary meetings held on April 17, workers mandated the union to issue a two-hour strike notice per shift for May 6, 8 and 10 and also a strike notice to all workers. extraordinary in the month of May”, announced the Union of Workers of Manufacturing Industries, Energy and Environmental Activities of the North (SITE-Norte).

Workers will be concentrated, on the days in question, from 08:30 to 10:30 and from 17:00 to 19:00, in front of the company’s facilities, in S. Mamede Infesta, Matosinhos.

According to the union structure, which affects the CGTP, workers demand the negotiation of the demands list, the defense of jobs and the continuity of Efacec as a strategic company.

“This strike approved by the workers is a ‘warning cry’ to affirm that they do not remain undaunted and serene while the future of the company and their jobs may be put at risk”, pointed out the union, noting that the Mutares fund went ahead with a collective layoff at Efacec Engenharia in April.

The State sold all of Efacec (nationalized in 2020) to the German investment fund Mutares.

As part of the sale, the State agreed to inject 160 million euros into the company and Banco de Fomento finances a further 35 million euros, through the purchase of bonds (convertible into capital).

Efacec, which is headquartered in Matosinhos, has around 2,000 workers.
