Artists from the municipality of Albufeira express April in a biannual competition

This year, to mark the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, the event is under the theme “Tell me about APRIL”, inviting participants to artistically express the memory of the 1974 Revolution and reflect on democratic values, freedom, equality and diversity, announced the Municipality of Albufeira in a press release.

Registration for the competition will be open at Galeria Municipal João Bailote, between the 19th and 21st of June.

Participation is open to all artists born in or resident in the municipality of Albufeira. Each participant will be able to present a work, which must be delivered duly identified at the João Bailote Municipal Gallery, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm between the 19th and 21st of June.

Interested parties wishing to participate must submit their registration on a registration form provided by the organization, which must be accompanied by the curriculum vitae/artistic, color photograph of the work, descriptive synopsis of the work in the context of the proposed theme (up to 150 characters) and document proving birth or residence in the municipality of Albufeira.

The works selected by the jury will be exhibited at the aforementioned Municipal Gallery from August 9th to September 21st. The three best works will be distinguished with monetary prizes worth 750 euros (1st prize), 500 euros (2nd prize) 250 euros (3rd prize), and the jury may also decide to award honorable mentions to participants that present high quality projects.

It is also planned to award a participation prize, with a unit value of 300 euros, for the works/authors selected in the competition. All selected works will become the property of Albufeira City Council.
