Without the noisy background, the dust raised by the horses’ hooves and the screams of the market traders who were exempt from paying taxes in the Middle Ages, the Leiria Franca Fair is still, however, the same exciting event that it was for the region in the days of the reign. by D. Dinis.
From the “temple of gastronomy” filled with regional delicacies to the “amusement theme park” for all generations, from the exhibition center to traditional and artisanal trade, the fair is truly appealing and the 27 days of the event promise more than ever.
It is also an “eco-friendly” party: it officially gained the distinction of Ecoevent, with sustainable practices that raise awareness among visitors, operators and partners about reducing the ecological footprint.
Gastronomy and music for everyone
Now, as in the year 1295, when it received the annual fair charter, food and drinks continue to reign supreme at the Leiria Fair. Snacks and typical dishes from the region await diners from all over the country at Praça Gastronomia. Throughout the fair there will also be stalls with the inevitable food, churros and cotton candy.
On the Leiria Stage, there will be a very eclectic line-up, which would make any king dance wildly. From folklore to pop, passing through Portuguese popular music, to hip-hop/rap, there will be 20 days of concerts, with free entry, with emphasis on Toy, which will open the Leiria Fair on the 30th. Followed by Van Zee (May 3), Diogo Piçarra (4), Hybrid Theory (10), Slow J (11), Némanus (17), Excesso (18), João Miguel (21), Katedral (22), GNTK (24) and Carolina Deslandes (25), with there also being room for the municipality’s philharmonic bands to perform on May 26, the closing day of the event.
The Leiria Fair is increasingly a national event, for everyone and for everyone, a reference for popular and urban events in the country.
