“On April 25th it was where we won the right to choose, create, build our future, we wanted in the Government to be alongside a generation that was born, grew up and is today building the future of Portugal, not having lived in times of oppression and where we weren’t all the same.”

The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, had lunch with young people on the day celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, stating that “we need these children of April for the future of Portugal”, making a commitment that the new Executive “is available to give you the tools to build the country’s future”.

“On April 25th it was where we won the right to choose, create, build our future, we wanted in the Government to be alongside a generation that was born, grew up and is today building the future of Portugal, not having lived in times of oppression and where we were not all equal”, declared the prime minister.

Luís Montenegro, like the young people he had lunch with, did not live through the times of the dictatorship, “we have the privilege of having in our lives processes of academic valorization, training and educational processes, where we were not confronted with these limitations, in any case that It doesn’t mean that we don’t all have challenges today to overcome and that our choices don’t have other types of conditioning today and that we don’t have a responsibility that we have to share in terms of society”, highlighted the Prime Minister.

“What I shared in our meeting was the responsibility I made them feel, in a good way, to build together the Portugal of tomorrow again. More than contemplating the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April, we are focused on the years to come, we need these children of April for the future of Portugal”, declared Luís Montenegro, who highlighted that it is necessary to stop the flight of young people abroad . “We need young Portuguese people to grasp the future of Portugal, we need young Portuguese people to take their potential, their qualifications, everything they know how to do well and put it at the service of their projects, their institutions and the your country”.

The Prime Minister stated that it is necessary to provide the necessary instruments so that young people do not leave Portugal and are able to build and carry out their projects in our country.

“I am convinced that these 50 years since the 25th of April will be a turning point if we break what was a negative cycle, which was the hallmark of recent years, which was the inability to retain our talent in Portugal”, criticized Luís Montenegro , stressing that if we don’t “have the capacity to stop this, it will frustrate the future of Portugal”.

“It is in our hands to create the conditions for young people to stay”, concludes the prime minister.

In Luís Montenegro’s opinion, “the evocation of April 25th is to look to the future, to ensure that the liberating dawn has had an effect”.
