The mural ‘The Sound of the Revolution’ commemorating the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974, was vandalized in the early hours of this Thursday, with graffiti praising António Salazar and other fascist phrases.

The information was provided by the municipality on the social network Facebook. The municipality recalls that the inauguration of the mural, designed by Regg Salgado and Mariana Santos, installed on Avenida Bragança Fernandes, scheduled for this afternoon at 3:30 pm, will take place at the same time and reinforces that the work will be restored.

Also on Facebook, the councilor for Culture, Mário Nuno Neves, states that “when the Freedom that April granted us is used intelligently, the Portuguese rise; when it is used stupidly – as was the case in this act of vandalism – everyone we let ourselves go.”

The councilor invites the population to be at the inauguration this afternoon and writes that “the presence of everyone means a clear repudiation of acts carried out by those who have learned nothing from History”.
