“We see the challenge as an opportunity to highlight, think and discuss culture, and, consequently, life, because the extent of what is understood today as culture is increasingly vast, democratic and transversal, comprising the most diverse dimensions of our existence”, assures the mayor of Aveiro.

This is a special year, considering that moments like this are rare in the life of a city, taking into account the bringing together of a series of dynamics in a short period of time, “so we have an intense year ahead of us, with the possibility of count on the infinite capacity of Aveirenses and their Friends to make this initiative a milestone in their relationship with the territory and the future of their community, a contribution to More and Better Portugal”, assures Ribau Esteves.

Aveiro, city, municipality and region, assumes the status of being more Portugal, of hosting in the City of Canals the celebration and promotion of Portuguese culture, born here and lived in the four corners of the world where the Portuguese played and play with their vitality vibrant, its unique boldness and its always striking Lusitanity. Enriched by so many people from other cultures around the world who share life with us and experience Portugal.

The Aveiro city council takes the lead in this process, which has the participation of many citizens, public and private entities, in addition to having the support of the Intermunicipal Community of the Aveiro Region and its associated municipalities.
