The recreation of Cabotage will take place tomorrow from 9:30 am, an initiative that is part of the Ribeira Brava Culture Week.

“In this third edition, the municipality once again invests in the historical recreation of a maritime practice that consisted of navigation between the various ports along the island’s coast. The activity will be broadcast on Canal Na Minha Terra TV and on the social networks of the Ribeira Brava City Council”, it is informed in a note to the newsrooms.

“The transport of passengers and goods will be recreated, with disembarkation at the Ribeira Brava pier, followed by the sale of products in the old-fashioned market that dates back to 1910. Divided into two scenarios, the activity begins at the pier, where transactions will take place commercial buildings, then moving to the seafront of the town, with the recreation of a traditional municipal market, with various artisans and merchants. The atmosphere of the 1910 era will be revived with the presence of several traders, each representing a trade.

Several entities from the municipality will participate in this recreation, as extras, including the Senior University of Ribeira Brava, EB1/PE of Tabua, EB1/PE of Campanário Leonete Reis, EBS Padre Manuel Álvares, Casa do Povo da Serra de Água and the Lugar da Serra Community Center, in addition to the theater group Bolo do Caco who will play the main characters.

The project is organized by the Ribeira Brava City Council, in partnership with the Madeira Ethnographic Museum, and has the support of the Regional Secretariat for Economy, Sea and Fisheries, through the Regional Directorate for the Sea”, they add.
