Triumph against Atl. Ouriense
In a decisive round, Sporting was forced to win at Ouriense in order not to hand over the fourth championship to Benfica and carry on their hopes of still being able to be champions in the last round. Despite the rotation promoted by Mariana Cabral, the Lionesses won comfortably by 0-3.
The first minutes did not go well for the Alcochete team. Sporting rushed in, with some wrong passes, and was unable to penetrate the defensive block of the team led by César Matias.
However, the strength of Ouriense’s defense lasted until the 27th minute, when Olivia Smith took advantage of a surplus in the area to shoot and do the first. Joana Martins, with an excellent direct free kick, increased the lead to two and Ana Capeta, with a pass from Cláudia Neto, added the third before the break.
In the second half, despite there being no room for more goals, Sporting dominated and controlled the match. The result could have taken on different proportions, but the lack of effectiveness of the Leo players and a couple of interventions by Ana Rita Oliveira kept the result intact.
The title decision is thus postponed until the last round and Sporting can still win it if the Eagles do not beat Racing Power. In case of equality on points, the green and white team has an advantage in the direct confrontation, as they won both matches by 3-1.
On the other hand, Ouriense will play at home again and will host Lank Vilaverdense in an all-or-nothing game. Separated by just one point, the Ourém team will be directly relegated in case of defeat, meaning the draw is enough to maintain the play-off position.
