The Municipal Climate Action Plan (PMAC) of the Municipality of Esposende was approved at a Chamber meeting, a document that defines the local strategy for mitigation and adaptation to Climate Change.
At stake is the reduction of CO emissionstwoeq by at least 90% by 2050, in relation to the 2005 value, accelerating decarbonization and enhancing the municipality’s resilience to Climate Change. “This goal should be achieved through improving energy efficiency and promoting the production and use of cleaner energy, as defined in the European Union’s Package of Measures on Climate and Renewable Energy”, says the Authority.
The actions proposed in the PMAC aim to “respond to the new normative and legal requirements established by the Climate Base Law and reflect the guidelines defined in community programming, identifying the goals to be achieved, their timing and financing options”. On the other hand, the articulation of this Plan with the Territorial Management Instruments (IGT) “will make it possible to reinforce Esposende’s climate strategy”. Additionally, the Municipality intends to “mobilize the community to contribute to Climate Action in the territory, improving its response to current and future vulnerabilities”.
The Municipal Climate Action Plan will be submitted for approval to the Esposende Municipal Assembly, at the session on April 30th.
