The food trading company Vanibru wants to install a storage center in Braga, preparing to invest around 6.5 million euros. The announcement was made today by the Braga Chamber, which will vote on the public and economic interest for the municipality next Monday.

In a statement sent to O MINHO, the municipality reveals that the “company intends to develop an urban operation to create a Storage Center with temperature control for food products with 5,133 m2 of installation and 7,324 m2 of construction, in a planned investment of 6 .5 million euros”.

According to the Braga Chamber, “this investment will allow the creation of new jobs and will contribute to the generation of wealth and consequent economic and competitive development of the region”.

Quoted in the same note, the councilor for urban planning, João Rodrigues, highlights that “this is yet another proposal that demonstrates the importance given by the Municipality of Braga to attracting investment, placing itself alongside investors and transforming the territory conducive to the generation of wealth, and not its opposite.”

After evaluating municipal services, highlights the municipality led by social democrat Ricardo Rio, “the project fits into the complementary use foreseen in the Economic Activity Spaces, so the company’s intention does not distort the functionality of the land foreseen in the PDM. for the area in question.”

“In addition to this, the area where the project is located is already waterproofed, so its construction will not significantly transform the existing characteristics, and the proposal also establishes an extensive permeable area, with the creation and maintenance of green areas”, he concludes. the municipal assessment.

“The Municipality recognizes the strategic importance of the project for the development of the municipality. In this sense, and under the terms of the PDM regulations, the recognition of public interest implies the exemption from strategic environmental assessment and the submission of the project to a public discussion procedure for a period of no less than 20 working days”, we also read in the press release.
