At the next Chamber meeting, Braga’s municipal executive will analyze the opening of the public consultation on the draft regulation for the organization and functioning of the Municipal Police.
“Over the last few years, there have been profound legislative changes to the legal system that governs the activity of local authorities, whether of a more general scope, with the administrative reorganization of the territory of the parishes, the approval of the Legal Regime of Local Authorities and the new Code of Administrative Procedure (CPA), either at a more specific level, in the sense of simplifying procedures, within the scope of the Urbanization and Building Legal Regime (RJUE) and the so-called Zero Licensing legal regime”, says the Chamber.
According to the municipality, “with the aforementioned reforms there was a paradigm shift in the relations between the Public Administration and individuals, dictating the need for greater successive supervision and, consequently, a reinforcement of the activities of the Municipal Police”.
“At the same time, the specific legislation that regulates the activity of the Municipal Police has also undergone profound changes, both in relation to the definition of the regime and form of creation of municipal police forces, and with regard to the respective regulation”, adds the Braga Chamber.
Therefore, the municipality considers that, in this context, “it is necessary to adapt the Municipal Regulation for the Organization and Functioning of the Municipal Police of Braga to the current regulatory framework”.
