‘My First Pages’ is the new program that the Municipality of Braga will implement and which aims to promote equal opportunities for access to books and reading, by offering books to children and young people in the municipality.
According to the regulations of this new program, which must be approved tomorrow at a council meeting, the Municipality intends to offer all children and young people living in the municipality a set of books from birth until they turn 17 years old.

All books offered under this Project will be selected by a team of technicians specialized in the area of ​​books and reading, according to the age group and the type of books most suitable for each age.
Along with these books, informative leaflets will also be offered about the benefits of reading and with some tips for parents to take into account when reading to their children or how to motivate them to read, and signing up for this program does not imply any type of costs.

The project will be implemented in two phases: the first will only cover children aged zero to 10 and the second will apply to children and young people aged zero to 17.
The Municipality’s partners in this project include the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library, the Braga Local Health Unit, the CTT, the Lusíadas de Braga Hospital, the Trofa Saúde de Braga Hospitals and the Education Institute of the University of Minho.
