Brazil has the main immigrant community in the country, followed by Angolans (5.3%), Cape Verdeans (4.6%), British (4.5%)

Brazilians represent 35% of the total 1.04 million foreign citizens residing in Portugal, according to 2023 data from the Agency for the Integration of Migrants and Asylum (Aima) published by the newspaper Public.

Brazil has the main immigrant community in the country, followed by Angolans (5.3%), Cape Verdeans (4.6%), British (4.5%), Indians (4.2%), Italians (3, 4%), Guineans (3.1%), Nepalese (2.8%), Chinese (2.6%) and French (2.6%).

The numbers are subject to change in 2024, given the announced task force to regularize the situation of around 350,000 immigrants with pending cases from the extinct Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) – an operation that should begin in two months, according to Luís Goes Pinheiro, president of Aima.
