Renato Teixeira, in men, and Madalena Augusto, in women, were the winners of the first edition of the Cross de Prado Triathlon, a race that took place this Sunday, at Praia Fluvial do Faial and on the Cávado river, in Vila de Prado.
With the participation of 115 athletes, the initiative combined swimming (750 meters), cycling (18 kilometers) and running (five kilometers).
«It was a race with excellent participation, around the average for national races, held in a perfect location», said, at the end, João Ferreira, from Tribraga, who took over the organization.
According to the person responsible, the Faial River Beach «has all the conditions to hold events with these characteristics». Therefore, this is an “initiative to repeat”.
Patrício Araújo, sports councilor in the Municipality of Vila Verde, highlighted the «magnificent event», highlighting that «everyone should leave here happy with this event which is a compliment to sport itself».
The president of the Parish Council of Vila de Prado, Albano Bastos, said that «it is fortunate for Prado to have this magnificent place to be able to host events like this», remembering that Praia Fluvial do Faial «serves as a stage for great achievements at the level local, national and global”.
Organized by Tribraga and Vila Verde City Council, the event had the support of the Parish Council of Vila de Prado, some local associations (Clube Náutico de Prado, Moto Club de Prado and Vila de Prado a Correr) and Intermarché from Prado.
