The Social Democratic Workers pointed out a break in “political-union trust” in their leader and former deputy Lina Lopes, appointed to the office of vice-president of Chega’s Parliament, asking the UGT to replace her in the executive secretariat.

“Very recently we were confronted with the news, now confirmed, that one of the leaders of the TSD and who is part of the Executive Secretariat of the UGT, became part of the office of the vice-president of the Assembly of the Republic, Diogo Pacheco de Amorim, elected deputy on the lists of the Chega party”, can be read in a position taken by the executive of the National Secretariat of the TSD, signed by the secretary general Pedro Roque Oliveira and to which the Lusa agency had access this Sunday.

In the structure’s opinion, this is a situation of “extreme seriousness” because, as it was a personal choice, it is “an undeniable degree of political confidence in the person appointed by those who nominate”, adding that, according to To her knowledge, this decision by the former PSD deputy “was not preceded by any type of information to the general secretary of the TSD, nor to the president of the UGT or its general secretary”.

In view of these facts, the executive of the National Secretariat of the TSD met to analyze the case and it was unanimously decided that “there is an irreversible breach of political-union confidence, on the part of the TSD, in the leader Lina Maria Cardoso Lopes”, whose work does not deserve any negative evaluation. “Consequently, I asked the general secretary of the UGT to propose the replacement of the director in question in the Executive Secretariat of the UGT”, adds the same note.

It was also decided to inform the TSD National Discipline and Supervision Council of this position to “analyze the case from a legal perspective”.

Following the 14th Congress of the UGT, the TSD, “through their tendency within that trade union central, appointed a group of leaders who, on the proposal of the general secretary of the UGT, were elected to the Executive Secretariat and who have , in that body, helped to ensure the functioning of the UGT and fought to defend its values and principles”, explains the same note.

Lina Lopes was a member of parliament in the XIV and XV legislatures, but in the elections on March 10th she fell from the sixth place she had occupied in 2022 to the penultimate place on the list for Lisbon and was not elected.
