Viana Florida dedicated to “Woman, love and flower” boosts city and parishes

The Viana Florida initiative returns in May, with a program
dedicated to “Woman, love and flower”, boosting the city of Viana do Castelo and the
parishes with different initiatives.

Thus, the program includes the Flower and Gardening Fair, Flower Festival,
Exhibition and Florida Festivals. The initiative’s strong weekend is from the 3rd to the 5th of
May, with proposals taking place in the Public Garden, in Praça da
Republic and Freedom Square.

From the 3rd to the 31st of May, the exhibition “WOMAN,
LOVE AND FLOWER”.

This Friday, May 3rd, from 9:00 am, works will be promoted
of making medium-sized floral arrangements in Praça da República and Praça da
Freedom. At 5pm, in the Public Garden, work on the ornamentation of the
flower arch of Vila Mou and, at 6:30 pm, the people begin making a salt carpet
da Ribeira.

Saturday, May 4th, the Public Garden hosts, from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm, the Fair
flowers and gardening, with Feirão by the Folklore Group of Dances and Songs of
Alvarães and Rancho Folclorico das Lavradeiras in Vila Franca.

Saturday is also the day of the Meeting of the Florida Festivals: the Rose Festivals,
which take place from the 10th to the 13th of May, bring their flower baskets, promoting their
local tradition, organized by the Festivals Committee; the Feast of Santa Cruz de Alvarães,
which runs from the 17th to the 19th of May, comes to the city to present the traditional and well-known
flowery floors, in an initiative of the Festivals Committee and Folklore Group of Dances and
Songs of Alvarães; the Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of the Incarnation of Vila
Mou, which take place from the 15th to the 20th of May, bring its flower arch to the city, in a
unique tradition in the municipality, organized by the Festivals Committee.

On that day, the decoration of the Florido Arch of Vila Mou continues, which will be
raised at 5pm. Between 3pm and 6pm, there will be street entertainment around the
ADC Anha Drum Group.

Sunday, May 5th, the Flower and Gardening Fair, with a sale by the Group
Folklore of Santa Marta de Portuzelo and Folkloric Group of the Lands of Geraz do Lima,
takes place from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, with street entertainment by Grupo de Bombos da Ronda
Typical Carreço from 3pm.

The Viana Florida program includes, on the 11th, 18th and 25th of May, the Feirões in
Republic square. On May 12th, the flowery carpet “Bairro do
Garden”, created by residents of that area of ​​the city.
When it comes to flowery festivals, the Festa das Rosas in Vila Franca takes place between
May 10th and 13th, the Festa de Santa Cruz in Alvarães from May 17th to 19th and the Pilgrimage
of Our Lady of the Incarnation in Vila Mou from May 15th to 20th.

On the weekend of May 24th and 25th, Praça da Liberdade also hosts the
Wine & Blues Festival, which combines blues music with the promotion of green wine from
region.
