The Seixal City Council conceives of culture as a public service that ensures everyone’s right to access, create and enjoy, as an essential element in the formation of awareness of sovereignty and the diversity of humanity’s identity, dialoguing, as equals, with everyone the people of the world, with the immense potential for freedom, transformation and resistance and, like the emancipation of work, forming an essential part of the heritage of the future.

As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974, we look at the vast path covered with pride and satisfaction, as we see that, also in the area of ​​visual arts, the municipality of Seixal has followed a consistent, coherent, regular and harmonious, by promoting and supporting associations and various artistic agents; by encouraging and involving the school community and the population in the design and enjoyment of the activities developed; by building and equipping equipment and by producing and sponsoring a wide and diverse set of training and leisure activities.

Defending culture is, therefore, one of the most urgent ways of making all voices heard.

Ketam’s story, which we present in the INSPIRATIO exhibition, dates back to the summer of 1998, when he decided to venture into graffiti, in the form of more complex calligraphed inscriptions or paintings in public spaces, using walls and creating an intentional language to interfere in the city, a relationship he maintains to this day, manipulating and working on various materials and supports, such as scenography for shows, through screens, to helmets, boards, furniture, motorbikes, cars and everything that the imagination can reach.
