We already knew that Bela Vista Park had been restored with the presence of its beautiful sheep. But the fact that their lives require unique care for these animals is something that, immersed in the motorized noise of the city, we sometimes forget. From 09.30 this Tuesday, April 30th, the Quinta Pedagógica dos Olivais, where the 23 sheep lived between 2020 and 2023, will show what shearing is and how it is done. Entry is free.

“Every year sheep are sheared because, like people, they also feel heat. This painless process is a real relief for these animals, which are prepared to face higher temperatures”, describes the Lisbon City Council, on social media.

Remember that the presence of this herd in Bela Vista aims to promotevegetation control, soil conservation and the reduction of human effort and energy consumption associated with maintaining the space, within the scope of the Life Lungs project, which advocates the promotion of “biodiverse rainfed meadows”, in an attempt to make the city more resilient to the effects of climate change. Bela Vista Park. April 30th, 09.30-12.00. Free entry
