The Braga City Council announced, this Monday, that the requalification works of Variante da Encosta have now been completed, which included the insertion of the pedestrian and cycling network, on the Avenida João II – Avenida Alfredo Barros axis.

“There are now optimal circulation conditions for pedestrians with the creation of new crossings, redesign of roundabouts and adoption of traffic calming measures with a view to humanizing public space and promoting smooth modes, with safety conditions for circulation being restored. of bicycles”, says the municipality.

According to the municipality, “there are seven kilometers of cycle path connecting to the University of Minho, protection of cycle paths at intersections, 20,000 square meters of accessible pedestrian paths, reduction of circulation speed, 61 safe and accessible crossings, reinforcement of lighting and repaving integral, which is added to the approximately two kilometers already existing on Avenida António Palha and Rua Roberto Mariz, forming a coherent network extension”.

For the Mayor of Braga, Ricardo Rio, “the necessary conditions have been created for quality travel, whatever the mode chosen”. The mayor recently paid a visit to the site, accompanied by the councilor for Municipal Works, Olga Pereira, and the president of the Union of Parishes of Nogueira, Fraião and Lamaçães, Pinto de Matos.
