The head of the PS list for the European Elections defended himself against criticism of exchanging the Assembly of the Republic for the European Parliament and assured that he never committed to running for Lisbon City Council, rejecting ending his European mandate halfway through.
Marta Temido did not leave Luís Montenegro without a response, after the PSD leader’s criticism of the head of the PS list for the European Elections, recalling his departure from the government.
“The Portuguese know me and my journey, they know the reasons that led me to submit my resignation”, stated the former Minister of Health, when handing over the PS lists to the European Parliament.
The socialist candidate also defended herself from criticism of the three PS list leaders in the European Parliament, who were elected deputies less than two months ago and who are now preparing to leave the Assembly of the Republic.
“They are always here defending the same causes, they are candidates for the people”, highlighted the former ruler.
Marta Temido was even nominated for a municipal candidacy, next year, to face Carlos Moedas in next year’s elections. The former minister assured that she “does not have a plan regarding this” and that she was simply “an appreciation and not a commitment” when she stated that she felt like running for Lisbon City Council.
“What I said was that I understood that, in the life of cities, many of the great challenges of our time are faced and, having a background in executive functions, this project had some attraction, but that does not mean more than the words mean. It’s an appreciation and not a commitment to a project,” she clarified.
