Completed requalification of bypass in Braga with 7 km of cycle path

The requalification of Variante da Encosta, in Braga, has been completed, the municipality announced today.

The work was visited by the president of the Chamber, Ricardo Rio, by the councilor for municipal works, Olga Pereira, and by the president of the Union of Parishes of Nogueira, Fraião and Lamaçães, José Pinto de Matos.

“There are now optimal circulation conditions for pedestrians with the creation of new crossings, redesign of roundabouts and adoption of traffic calming measures with a view to humanizing public space and promoting smooth modes, with safety conditions for circulation being restored. of bicycles”, says the municipality in a statement.

According to the same source, the requalification of Variante da Encosta includes seven kilometers of cycle path connecting to the University of Minho, protection of cycle paths at intersections, 20,000m2 of accessible pedestrian paths, reduced circulation speed, 61 safe and accessible crossings, reinforcement of lighting and full repaving, which are added to the approximately 2km already existing on Av. António Palha and Rua Roberto Mariz, forming a coherent network extension.

The three mayors verified the satisfaction of everyone who visited the space and, according to the Mayor, “the necessary conditions have been created for a quality journey, whatever the mode chosen”.
