CIM Coimbra Region boosts energy transition with PROSPECT+ program: Gazeta Rural

The Intermunicipal Community (CIM) of the Coimbra Region had its application approved for PROSPECT+, a training program that aims to enable cities and regions to implement innovative financing solutions for local climate and energy actions.

PROSPECT+ continues the success of the PROSPECT project (2017-2020), which brought together 149 local and regional authorities, in addition to 46 energy agencies and networks, to promote the sharing of knowledge and experiences in implementing sustainable practices and investment plans.

As CIM Region of Coimbra is preparing the process for the implementation of a Renewable Energy Community, the objective of participating in this program is to learn from other regions specialized in the implementation and management of local climate strategies. The technical and administrative training acquired will also be directed towards contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Cohesion Policy Operational Programme.

After the learning process, which will take place between May and October/November 2024, a document will be prepared summarizing the contributions received to be shared with technicians from the CIM Region of Coimbra and the 19 municipalities that make up it, including mayors. and local decision makers.

The approval of the PROSPECT+ program represents a significant step for the Coimbra Region in the energy transition, in strengthening its local climate actions and in contributing to a more sustainable Europe.
