EDUSTAT reveals that from 2017 to 2022, the unemployment rate of the active population with completed higher education – corresponding to the level of education that includes university and polytechnic education – fell by 2%, from 6.4% in 2017 , to 4.4%, in 2022.

EDUSTAT – Education Observatory developed by EDULOG, the Belmiro de Azevedo Foundation’s think tank for Education, revealed the main official indicators on the job market in Portugal.

“About to mark another World Workers’ Day, EDUSTAT – Education Observatory launches its first fact sheet, a document that aims to summarize the main official indicators on the labor market in Portugal”, the statement said.

Currently, Portugal has an active population rate (employed and unemployed) of 65.8%, according to data from 2021, reveals the analysis. In 2021, graduates had average monthly earnings of 1,939 euros.

According to data from 2020, women’s income represented 83% of men’s earnings.

Regarding the risk of poverty rate after social transfers, EDUSTAT reveals that in recent years, the risk of poverty rate after transfers of social support received by the State has had some fluctuations.

According to the most recent data, in 2022, the rate was 22% in the population with basic education, 13.8% in the population with secondary education and 5.5% in the population with higher education.
