With the aim of publicizing the importance of practicing sports and promoting training, recreational and sporting initiatives that promote health, well-being, social inclusion and widespread sports in the municipality, as well as publicizing the work carried out by associative movement, the Municipal Council of Salvaterra de Magos, in partnership with associations and communities in the municipality, will hold the third edition of the Sports Days.

From May 1st to June 2nd, various activities will be promoted, of different modalities, such as intergenerational meetings, walks, training internships, tournaments, demonstrations, district and national competitions, internships, tours, among others.

The opening of the Sports Days is scheduled for May 1st, Wednesday, public holiday, at 9am, at the Clube Desportivo Salvaterrense Games Park, where the “Falcões Cup 2024” Under-11 Football Tournament will take place.

On that day (10 am), the City Council and the Union of Parishes of Salvaterra de Magos and Foros de Salvaterra inaugurate the Foros de Salvaterra Padel Field, located in the Foros de Salvaterra Leisure Area, next to the School Center.

Also on May 1st, the Tagus Basin Regional Hopes Championship will take place at Barragem de Magos, in Canoeing, starting at 2:30 pm, organized by the Clube Náutico de Salvaterra de Magos and the Portuguese Canoeing Federation.

Saturday, May 4th, highlighted by the BTT Resistance (4pm), at the Marinhais Municipal Sports Complex, organized by the Marinhais BTT Association. Also this Saturday (6pm), the Academia de Artes “O Batuque” will hold, at Espaço Jackson, in Glória do Ribatejo, the Dance Meeting 2024, an event that returns to that location on Sunday (May 5), at 3pm.

On May 5th, Sunday, there is a Festive Walk (9am), by the Foral, Toiros and Fandango 2024 Festival Committee, with a concentration at Celeiro da Vala. At the same time (9am), the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Salvaterra de Magos hosts the Shoto Cup 2024, organized by the Karate section of the Voluntary Firefighters of Salvaterra de Magos.

Starting on May 6th and until the end of the month, several intergenerational meetings organized by the City Council will take place in the parishes, all starting at 10:30 am: on May 6th at the Games and Leisure Park in Foros de Salvaterra; on May 8th at Ringue Polidesportivo do Granho; on May 14th at the Muge Multisports Ring; on May 22nd at the Glória do Ribatejo Children’s Park Ring; on May 23rd at Largo da República in Marinhais; and on May 27th at the Salvaterra de Magos Children’s Park Ring.

On the 7th and 17th of May, at 8pm, the Salvaterra de Magos Municipal Swimming Pools will host Diving Baptisms, organized by the Salvaterra de Magos Volunteer Firefighters.

An inaugural Tournament at the Foros de Salvaterra Padel Field is scheduled for the second weekend of the Sports Days: May 11th and 12th, at 9am, at the Foros de Salvaterra Leisure Area, promoted by the Associação dos Amigos da Festa of Friendship of Várzea Fresca.

Also on Saturday there will be an open class (3 pm) of KickBoxing and Muay Thai, at the headquarters of Clube Desportivo Salvaterrense, by Salvaterra Fight Club. At the same time, at the Municipal Sports Complex of Marinhais, the “Friends of the 3rd part” promote a Veterans Football Tournament. At night, at the headquarters of the Ribatejo Arrows Association (9pm), located in the old Escola Nova, in Marinhais, the Ribatejo Cup Final will be held using sisal arrows.

On Sunday, May 12, the program starts early in the morning (7:30 am), at Barragem de Magos with the National “Municipal Cup” Sport Fishing Competition, organized by Pica e Puxa – Sport Fishing Association of Foros de Salvaterra. The Skating section of Sport Clube Desportos de Glória do Ribatejo holds a Skating Training Internship (8am) that day, at the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Glória do Ribatejo. The start of the Youth Cycling Circuit of Glória do Ribatejo, Schools and Cadets (under-17), respectively, is scheduled for 9:30am and 3pm, with a focus on the Parish Council and organization of the Associação Glória BTT – Desporto e Ambiente and the Santarém Cycling Association.

Juvemar promotes an Open STEP Class on May 14th (7:30 pm), at its headquarters in Marinhais.

On May 15th (2pm) the City Council organizes another “(Re)Encounters with Stories”, this time at the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Salvaterra de Magos, with a Gerontomotricity Meeting, bringing together users of the municipality’s IPSS’s

Praia Doce hosts the 6th Adapted Canoeing Meeting on May 16th (10am), organized by the Benavente Children’s Recovery Center (CRIB).

On the weekend of May 18th and 19th there are more activities and initiatives, namely an Open Jiu Jitsu Class, by Salvaterra Fight Club, Saturday (3pm), at the headquarters of Clube Desportivo Salvaterrense. On Sunday, the IX Vila de Glória do Ribatejo Race takes place (10am), organized by the Trail Running section of the Sport Clube Desportos de Glória do Ribatejo and gathering scheduled for the parish’s Municipal Sports Pavilion. In Muge, the Inatel Pavilion hosts the Family Sports initiative (11am), promoted by the City Council and CIMLT, to mark International Family Day. In the afternoon (2pm), on Rua dos Pescadores, in Foros de Salvaterra, the Motard Slick & Piton Group holds a Car Race.

On the 25th and 26th of May, Sport Fishing returns to Barragem de Magos (7:30 am), with the National Championship – Boia, organized by the Portuguese Sport Fishing Federation. Also this weekend (Saturday and Sunday – 9am), a Youth Football Tournament will take place at the Clube Desportivo Salvaterrense Games Park, promoted by the Club.

Also on Saturday, the Judo Clube de Salvaterra promotes, at the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Salvaterra de Magos (9am) the Benjamim Shiai JCSM and the municipal project Biblioteca em Movimento returns to the Municipal Library of Salvaterra de Magos (11am) for the presentation of the children’s book “Som do Vento”, written by Vanda Bernardo, with illustrations by Carla Coelho, followed by a Karate demonstration.

For May 30th, Thursday, a Self Defense Internship is scheduled (9am) at the Salvaterra de Magos Taekwondo School, at the Municipal Sports Pavilion of Salvaterra de Magos.

On June 1st, Saturday, the highlight will be the holding of the “Inácio Caneira” 2024 Tournament (10 am), by Sport Clube Desportos de Glória do Ribatejo, in Campo dos Carvalhos and the celebrations of World Children’s Day (3 pm), held by the Moto Clube de Marinhais, at its headquarters, at Antiga Escola Nova, in Marinhais. In the late afternoon (7pm), MAGOS GYM 2024 will take place at the Salvaterra de Magos Sports Pavilion, organized by the Salvaterra Trampoline Club. Sunday, June 2nd, there will also be the annual bicycle tour around the municipality (9:15 am), departing from Largo das Festas de Marinhais, organized by the “Os Cansados” Cycling Center of Marinhais.
