Open Dance School participated in the Hip Hop International championship, the largest Urban Dance competition in the country and which gives access to the World Championship, in the United States.
The event took place on the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th of April, at the Maia Tennis Complex.
The school was the only one to represent Viana do Castelo in the official divisions, where it participated with three crews, in the Junior, Varsity and JV Megacrew divisions.
ODS Megacrew reached the podium, ranking in 2nd place, thus gaining access to the world final.
Also noteworthy is the ODS Júnior Crew, which in its first participation achieved 13th place, 6 hundredths of the top 10 and the ODS Crew, in the category with the most competition, 39 crews, obtained 7th place, with the same score from 6th place.
In the “starters” category, a new category with no official division, Viana do Castelo was represented by Maya Street Dance, residents of the Parishes of Darque and Castelo do Neiva, who, for the first time, participated in competitions.
More than 2000 dancers participated, from all over the country, aged between 6 and over 50 years old.
It is organized by the Portuguese Hip Hop Dance Crews Association, the Municipality of Maia and the Portuguese Sports Dance Federation.
