Between government and governance there is an abyss. The first holds power, or the feeling of power, while the other represents the true act of managing and commanding. This substantial and significant difference led the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, to question whether the PS and Chega wish to govern from the Assembly. If that is the intention, inform the President of the Republic. If the Government’s proposals are turned inside out, in committee or plenary, then Portugal does not need a Government, but just a mere Executive. Complicated?

It seems so, but just look at the United States: who governs that country? The President does not, as became evident recently. The Government resides in the House of Representatives and the Senate, and the occupant of the White House only carries out decisions. Theirs, and nothing else. Does the Assembly of the Republic, with the absolute majority of the PS and Chega, intend to copy this good governance?

The PM questioned, and André Ventura already responded: if the Government doesn’t govern, doesn’t decide, doesn’t act and just gets in the way, then the Government headquarters should be transferred from São Bento to the Assembly Palace, in São Bento. In other words, the PM’s official residence would become an annex to the AR. Is it worth consulting the Portuguese, these anonymous and unknown citizens, to find out who governs: whether the so-called, with its own powers, or the Assembly of the Republic, on the model of the American Congress?
